Full Moon In Cancer 2023 | Family Is Community
The Full Moon in Cancer enlightens us on the nostalgia of our past, encouraging us to rest and reflect on our families.
Cancer placements never forget someone because they live in the past. They are always reminiscing on what was and what could have been. There's always memories of fonder times.
Their minds endlessly drift on the feelings from their past, as well as their grudges and those who have hurt them. They never forget those and hold all of those emotions closely.
As Mercury in Capricorn is retrograding and opposing this full moon, you might want to spend more time with family, go through baby pictures of your loved ones, and hit up your childhood friends who still think fondly of you.
Full Moons illuminate things that were once unseen. You may find yourself discovering a new family secret or digging deeper into your ancestry. This is a good opportunity to ask your loved ones about what has been unspoken of or brushed over in your family.
Your mother or you, if you are a mother, are being called to the forefront. This is a perfect time to spend more time with your mother or reflect on the mother wound that you may carry.
Mothers are the Queen archetype, they hold up the entire community and spread their roots deep into the Earth. When a mother is not in touch with her body, especially if it's due to generational abuse from her own mother, her roots can overgrow into codependency and control in order to survive.
A rooted mother is the central hub of a community. She is the network that connects everyone and everything together. She is the tree of life.
With this Full Moon trining Neptune in Pisces, you might be receiving dreams around your passed loved ones reaching out to you. These are messages from your family on the other side. Perhaps you are being asked to build an ancestral altar.
You may even find yourself fantasizing about what it would be like to have children.
Lately, I've seen many women around me planning to freeze their eggs and look at their fertility options so that they can bear their own children at an older age.
I was actually just having this conversation with my own mother today. Society's lack of a focus on family and financial burdens has made it rather difficult to have children at a younger age. Nobody centers family and community anymore, nor do they center love. People are scared of commitment and having a family.
Children have also become quite expensive and many partners do not want to commit to raising them together, leaving mostly single mothers with the brunt of the burden to carry.
Without family, we have no sense of community.
People who were raised in dysfunctional families either spend all their time yearning for love and friendship or isolate themselves from others completely and reject the concept of ever having a family. There's no in-between. Many of these individuals also yearn to start their own families as a way to heal their inner child.
Families were what made up communities for our ancestors. Their communities were made up of multiple family units where we tended to each other, cared for each other, and children were raised by many women- not just one.
Our ancestors nurtured each other to survive, it was never a choice.
Today, we don't see community as essential to our survival, and so the expectations placed on our partners have increased as we demand more and more of them. We also see the loneliness epidemic has gotten worse. People see friendship, as well as helping and nurturing others as a job. More people use the term "emotional labor" incorrectly.
With Uranus in Taurus sextile this Full Moon, things are shifting positively for you and your family, your grandmother, your mother, or your children. You might find yourself moving soon, either closer or further away from your family depending on your relationship with them.
This placement also asks you to create some changes into your daily routine. You may feel called to hit up your grandma who's getting older, empathize with your parent's childhood wounds, or have the concept of children come up with your partner.
It's also time to schedule more naps into your week and see naps as what they actually are, productive. Rest recharges and regenerates us.
